Cultural diversity is a key challenge of our societies today. More than ever, our world is shaped by intense and continuous interaction among diverse cultures, beliefs and communities. One of the key challenges faced by societies today is to carefully manage the needs, expectations and interests of distinct groups and communities, whose values are very different and often seem incompatible with each other. In order to successfully address these challenges, societies need to develop structures and platforms for dialogue that allow different communities to interact fruitfully and engage with each other in a spirit of understanding and mutual respect. Art provides an ideal framework in which this exchange can happen. Indeed, artistic expression offers a universal language through which diverse cultures can engage in a meaningful dialogue.
